Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic and world champion, fell short of winning the men’s javelin throw title at the Doha Diamond League by a mere two centimeters.

The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist made his top throw of the evening with an 88.36 meters attempt on his final toss of the night. In the meantime, the Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, Jakub Vadlejch, clinched victory with his best throw of 88.38 meters during the competition.

Neeraj began the night slowly, but quickly redeemed himself with an impressive 84.93m throw on his second attempt. He then surpassed that distance with an 86.24m throw on his third try. On his fourth attempt, he once again reached the 86m mark, throwing 86.18m. His fifth attempt fell short at 82.28m. With only one throw left to make a comeback, he narrowly missed out on creating magic, coming just two centimetres shy of Vadlejch’s winning throw.
