Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 24 lakh for breaching the IPL code of conduct, with Rohit Sharma and other Mumbai Indians players also facing punishment as a result.

During the Tuesday match against LSG, Hardik Pandya and the players from MI were penalized for their slow over rate.

Hardik Pandya Fined

Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians continue to face challenges as their struggles persist. Following their seventh loss in the current Indian Premier League season against Lucknow Super Giants, captain Hardik and the entire playing XI were penalized for a slow over rate during the match. This marked the team’s second violation of the season, resulting in Hardik being fined INR 24 lakh, with each player on the team receiving a penalty of INR 6 lakh.

The IPL statement mentioned that Mr. Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians, has been fined due to his team’s slow over-rate in Match 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants. The match took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 30, 2024.

Pandya was fined ₹24 Lakh for his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate violations.

The statement mentioned that the remaining players of the Playing XI, along with the Impact Player, were fined either INR 6 Lac or 25% of their match fees, whichever amount is lower.

Mumbai Indians had a tough time on Tuesday evening, as they could only manage to score 144/7 after being told to bat by KL Rahul. Hardik Pandya, who was named as India’s vice-captain for the T20 World Cup earlier in the day, unfortunately got out without scoring a single run. On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma couldn’t make much of an impact either, only scoring 4 runs from five deliveries.

It has been a really tough season for MI, dealing with a lot of off-field problems and on-field difficulties. To make matters worse, their captain Hardik has been struggling with his performance, both with the bat and the ball. In the 10 matches he has played, he has only taken six wickets and his economy rate has gone up to 11, which has only added to MI’s problems.

Hardik has not managed to reach a half-century with the bat so far this season, accumulating a total of 197 runs in 10 innings at an impressive strike rate of 150.38.

Mumbai Indians’ chances of making it to the playoffs in IPL 2024 seem slim, as they currently sit at the ninth position in the standings with only six points. They are trailing behind Chennai Super Kings by four points, although CSK have played one game less than MI.

In addition, MI will face off against four strong competitors in their upcoming matches, all vying for a spot in the top-4. These opponents include Kolkata Knight Riders (twice), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants.
