OpenAI ChatGPT
The new ChatGPT desktop app is here, but it’s exclusive to macOS for now. OpenAI CTO Mira Murati unveiled the app on May 13, revealing that ChatGPT will soon sport a fresh and updated UI.
Yesterday, OpenAI treated us to an awesome demonstration where they showed off the new ChatGPT desktop app. This app is super cool because it can work smoothly with other programs in a small window. You can ask it questions about what’s on your screen using text or even your voice. It’s pretty amazing!
Desktop App what can it do?
One of the app’s main attractions is its ability to give insightful responses through visual analysis. In the demonstration conducted by OpenAI, users engaged with ChatGPT by inquiring about the contents on their screens, using either text or voice commands. ChatGPT would then provide answers based on what it perceives through the device’s cameras.
With OpenAI, you can now ask questions by using the Option + Space shortcut on your macOS device. Additionally, you can share screenshots and have discussions right within the app. And don’t forget about the new Voice Mode that lets you have voice chats with ChatGPT on your computer.
Click on the headphone icon at the bottom right corner of the app to enable this mode. Open AI revealed its newest high-end AI model, GPT-4o, and a revamped UI for ChatGPT’s web version at the event.
Availability of this App
Starting today, the app will start rolling out to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, and it will be available to a wider audience in the coming weeks. However, we did check the macOS App Store, and it seems that the app hasn’t been listed there yet. Windows PC users can look forward to the ChatGPT desktop app arriving later this year.
