Mamata Banerjee softens her comments

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, expressed her admiration for the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha for their commendable philanthropic work. However, she did voice her disapproval towards a couple of individuals who, despite being monks, involved themselves in political activities. Mamata Banerjee made it clear that her criticism was not directed at any institution in general.

On Saturday, Banerjee accused certain monks from the two monastic orders of being influenced by the BJP.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, condemned the statement, claiming that she was under pressure from Muslim extremists and was using threats to appease the TMC’s vote bank.

At a campaign event in Onda, Bankura, Banerjee stated, “I have no problem with Ramakrishna Mission, why would I criticize or offend it?” She explained, “I was talking about certain individuals.”

Bharat Sevashram Sangha received high praise from the chief minister, who acknowledged their dedicated service to the community and their genuine fondness for her.

Banerjee stated that Kartik Maharaj didn’t permit the Trinamool Congress agent to sit at a polling booth in Rejinagar, as she had previously mentioned.

She alleged that the monk from Murshidabad district, who is affiliated with the Bharat Sevashram Sangha, was actively involved in provoking people during the clashes that occurred in Rejinagar a few weeks back.

She mentioned that he is free to join BJP if he wishes, but emphasized the importance of wearing their badge. She also pointed out his past connection with Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

In her account, Banerjee emphasized her role in safeguarding Swami Vivekananda’s house in Kolkata. She described how she had intervened and convinced the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to step in and acquire the property, underscoring her commitment to the Ramakrishna Mission.

Banerjee stated that not only did she save the house where Sister Nivedita resided in Darjeeling, but she also constructed a skywalk from the metro railway station to Dakshineswar temple.

According to her, West Bengal is set to lead the INDIA alliance and oust the BJP from Delhi.

Banerjee was out on the campaign trail, rallying support for TMC’s Bishnupur candidate Sujata Mandal and Bankura nominee Arup Chakraborty.

Speaking at a different rally in Panskura, she emphasized that if the Trinamool Congress secures the highest number of seats, it would greatly assist the opposition INDIA alliance in forming the government at the Centre.

Banerjee emphasized the significance of Delhi’s vote, highlighting its potential to secure victory in all seats and greatly assist the INDIA alliance in forming the government. Discrediting PM Modi’s claims, Banerjee asked, “Have you actually received the Rs 15 lakh that was promised? There seems to be no correlation between their words and actions.”

Accusing opposition parties of obstructing appointments, she confidently stated, “I have 10 lakh jobs ready.” Banerjee emphasized that the constitutional guarantee ensures that the reservations for tribals and scheduled castes cannot be taken away by anyone. She proudly asserted that the TMC government has fulfilled all its promises.

Banerjee emphasized her claim that the BJP conspired in relation to Sandeshkhali. This is the location where there were allegations of sexual offenses and unlawful land seizures involving local TMC leaders, resulting in widespread protests.

Looking back on the anti-land acquisition movement in Nandigram in 2007, Banerjee thanked the former governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi for his honesty and assistance.

She commended Gandhi’s character, but refrained from discussing the current governor, hinting at CV Ananda Bose without mentioning him by name.

Banerjee accused the CPI(M) of committing atrocities against the people of the then undivided district of Medinipur during her opposition days.
